People

The Unit for Social and Environmental Research (USER) is a small research organization. USER has evolved and been re-defined by the people who have worked in it. Since 2002 there has usually been between 8-18 people employed at any one time. About two-thirds of the staff have been Thai citizens and the rest from a diverse range of nationalities. From July - December 2010 the main USER office will be partly closed for program re-development and sabattical leave of the Director (Dr. Louis Lebel). When we re-open in 2011 we expect the core staff to be much smaller and more of our work to be through partnerships.

Building and maintaining relationship with diverse kinds of people has always been an important part of USER's development as an organization.  Staff at USER regularly travel within and outside Thailand to give talks, listen to others, and visit places with problems, conflicts and solutions. We also welcome and regulary host talks and discussions with people from diverse backgrounds and approaches to research and development.

Over the years USER has helped build and support collaborative research networks in several different domains of action and research.
